As a part of the free agency opener yesterday, the Wild signed Brett Sutter (Darryl's son) to a two year, two-way contract. Sutter has previously spent time in the Calgary and Carolina organization.

Sutter has been more of an AHL mainstay since the 2007-08 season. He has only played in 54 NHL games and has been more of a fourth line grinder when he did get time up in the NHL.

With signing a two-way contract, the Wild can be flexible with Sutter. When in Iowa, Sutter can provide depth and a little grit to the young squad down there. Should he get a call up to Minnesota, Sutter will more than likely play that fourth line grinder role and provide a little toughness to the bottom part of the lineup.

In adding with the character players the organization loves to have, Sutter served as the captain of the Charlotte Checkers the past two seasons.

Welcome to the Team of 18,001 Brett Sutter!
