Review

Blum had a nice season with the Iowa Wild this year. His 29 points was second on the team among blueliners, and fourth on the team overall in points. He was called up to the NHL for four games in mid January, but was sent back down until the end of March when he was recalled. Blum was used as a sixth defenseman in his 15 games with the Wild, and was only able to tally one point in those games. There was some debate as to if he should have been the team's sixth defenseman heading into the playoffs, but the job went to Nate Prosser. Blum never made it into a postseason game for the Wild.

Status for 2014-15

Blum is an RFA this summer (according to capgeek). As noted last week, the Wild are better off re-signing Blum to another two way deal, to give them some depth at defense and allow their younger defenseman to get some time in at Iowa. He was decent in his limited time with the Wild this past year, and should function adequately in that same role next year should he be called upon to do so again.
