This Rivalry Is Dead

Please watch that video above. Because after that game, the Wild-Canucks rivalry has been non-existent.

Yes, the teams were "rivals" between 2003 and 2008. But after the 07-08 campaign, the rivalry has been in decline (mainly due to the Wild's lack of success and gritty players). Games usually end up with the Canucks topping the Wild handily, unless its Roberto Luongo starting at Xcel Energy Center.

Now that realignment has finally happened, the two teams are in separate divisions. They will only play each other 3-4 times a year now, barring a meeting in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Maybe someday, this will be a rivalry again. Could start tonight with something as little as a dive by oh...lets say Ryan Kesler. But probably won't happen (the rivalry starting up again, not the dive).

So please, lets stop calling this matchup what it is not: A rivalry.
